The Wall That Heals announces escort route
The Wall That Heals exhibit will be open Aug. 4 – Aug. 7 24 hours a day until closing at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Wall That Heals is a 375′ long, three quarter scale replica of the Wall in Washington DC that honors over 58,000 service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice. It travels across the country making 20 to 25 stops per year. The last time this exhibit was in Iowa was 2018. It is the only such exhibit that is directly affiliated with the actual monument in Washington DC. In addition to The Wall replica, the exhibit also includes a mobile education center where information and remembrance items left at the Vietnam Memorial are on display. It will pay a special tribute to local Hometown Heroes.
On Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., a group of motorcycles will escort the semi truck leaving from the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and traveling east on Main Street. It will leave Marshalltown on East Main Street Road and continue through Le Grand, Montour, Tama, Toledo and the Meskwaki Settlement. A detailed explanation of the route and a map is pictured to the right.
Robert Morgan American Legion Post 701 and Z Line LTD are honored to be able to bring this memorial to Tama for all of Iowa to visit. The Iowa location host, Meskwaki Settlement School, has provided a great amount of help and support along with the Meskwaki Tribe and numerous American Legions and VFWs in the area. We thank the members on our committee for their hard work preparing for this event.
