Lennox set to lay off 114 employees in January

T-R PHOTO BY NICK BAUR 114 employees are set to be laid off in January by Lennox Industries in Marshalltown according to a Dec. 20 filing with the Iowa Workforce Development.

Lennox Industries is set to layoff 114 employees in Marshalltown, according to a notice filing dated Dec. 20 with the Iowa Workforce Development WARN Log.

The layoff date is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2023, and representatives from Lennox Industries, UAW Local 893, and the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce had not returned a request for comment by the Times-Republican at the time of publication.

According to the City of Marshalltown’s most recent Comprehensive Financial Report, Lennox, which manufactures heating, cooling and refrigeration products, is the third-largest employer in the community with about 915 total employees.

A worker who is affected by the layoffs told the T-R that as of right now, there is “no set return date” for those who will be let go, but it was his understanding that before the company hires new employees, they have to give the laid off employees an opportunity to return with seniority and pay resuming where it was when they left.
