Marshalltown man charged with attempted murder

A Marshalltown man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting into another vehicle on Friday.

At approximately 9:21 p.m. that night, MPD officers were sent to the 300 block of North First Street for a reported shooting, and the alleged victim was identified as a 20-year-old Marshalltown man. The victim reported to officers he had been chased by another vehicle, and then the suspect shot into his vehicle while the victim was inside. The victim’s vehicle had several bullet holes in the driver’s side door.

Nobody was injured during the incident, and after further investigation, 20-year old Angel Gabriel Galvez-Trejo was arrested and charged with the following crimes: attempted murder, a Class B felony, going armed with intent, a Class D felony, assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless use of a firearm, both aggravated misdemeanors.

As of Monday evening, Galvez-Trejo was still being held in the Marshall County Jail, and bond had been set at $34,000 cash only. A preliminary hearing is set for March 15 at 9:30 a.m.
