TAMA -- Final preparations are completed for the 38th annual Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival. The community wide celebration is taking place from Thursday to Saturday at and around the Tama Civic Center.
Thursday kicked off the festivities with the Next Generation Shows Carnival. Several games, rides, and food options were available for festival goers of all ages.
Friday will continue with more carnival games, food and rides. In the evening, be sure to catch some live music from members of the community.
Starting in the fire station at 6 p.m., the Tri-County Community Band will kick things off, followed by the Tama Citizen of the Year presentation at 7. Keeping the energy high, the STC High School Jazz Band will close out the show at 7:30.
After an evening of watching live performances, all are invited to participate in The Pump's annual street dance.
With a little something for everyone on Saturday, the Tama Firemen will kick off the festivities by hosting their annual Pancake Breakfast from 7-9:30 a.m. Weekend host Cat Campbell will showcase Saturday entertainment starting at 10:00 a.m. with all of the awesome parade entries through downtown Tama.
Following the parade, be sure to stop by one of the many food vendors, with tasty options from Smokin Hog Pit Stop BBQ, Comal Kaxi, JJ's Burgers, La Terraza, Frybread & Stuff, and a Pie Lady treat for dessert.
After lunch, have more fun at the carnival and be sure to check out other entertainment options such as the STC Art Club face painting, adult power wheels, caricature drawings, and a performance by Gail's Academy of Dance at 1 p.m. The band Under Current will perform from 2-4 p.m., with a street dance to cap off the evening hosted by the Tama Firemen from 7-9 p.m.
