Marshalltown man charged with burglary, other crimes
Haller
A Marshalltown man has been charged with burglary for the second time in less than a year after he was arrested around the 600 block of Main Street on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Marshalltown Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area in response to a burglary report, and when they arrived, Christopher Wayne Haller, 38, was located on the scene. After an investigation, Haller was charged with second degree burglary (a Class C felony), possession of firearm by a felon (Class D felony), possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent (Class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
The investigation, which is ongoing, also linked Haller to additional recent burglaries in Marshalltown, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Marshalltown Police Department.
On the same day, Haller was charged with third degree theft and trespassing, both simple misdemeanors, in connection with a separate, unrelated incident. On Thursday, three additional charges were filed: possession of a weapon in a correctional institution (a Class C felony) and two counts of introducing intoxicants or drugs into a correctional institution, both Class D felonies. As of Monday, Haller was still being held in the Marshall County Jail, and bond is set at $10,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is set for May 26 at 9:30 a.m.
