Memorial Day Activities

LISCOMB — May 29 — The Liscomb Community will celebrate Memorial Day. The program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Liscomb Cemetery. Note the location. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held at the Liscomb Church of Christ. The program will include patriotic music, “In Flanders Fields,” roll call of deceased veterans and “Taps.” The BCLUW band will perform at the end of the program. The public is encouraged and invited to attend. Bring a lawn chair.

ALBION — May 28 — The annual Albion Cemetery Memorial Tribute to Albion-area veterans will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Albion Cemetery. The traditional ceremony will include the reading of the names of military personnel buried in area cemeteries. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

ALBION — May 29 — 8 a.m., Memorial Day Services — Raymon Veterans Park, 307 W. Johnson St. — Patriotic music will be provided by the Marshalltown Men’s Chorus Quartet, Elisabeth Bieber and Krystal Randall. The American Legion Post #46 and V.F.W. Post 839 will raise the colors and provide a Memorial Salute. Larry Raymon will be the day’s speaker and Pastor Matt Bishop will provide the Invocation and Benediction.

CLUTIER — May 29 — 7:30 a.m., Coffee and rolls for members and families — Clutier American Legion; 8:30 a.m., Flag raising at Legion Hall; 8:45 a.m., Clutier Cemetery; 9 a.m., Oneida Cemetery; 9:20 a.m., Holy Trinity Cemetery; 9:45 a.m., St. Wenceslaus Cemetery; 11 a.m., National Cemetery, Rural Vining

RHODES — May 29 — 2023 Memorial Day services will be held on Main Street at the Memorial Park at 9:30 am.

BEAMAN — May 29 — Programs at Cemeteries — 10 a.m.; Program at Bandshell — 1 p.m.

LINCOLN — GLADBROOK — GARWIN — May 29 — 8 a.m., 15-Mile Grove (Lincoln Township); 8:20 a.m., Maple Hill; 8:45 p.m., Badger Hill; 9:10 a.m.,. Chapel Cemetery; 9:50 a.m., Union Grove Lake Beach (for those lost at sea); 10:15 a.m., Crystal Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., Gethmann Cemetery; 11 a.m., All Veterans Memorial; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Memorial Day Dinner, Gladbrook Memorial Building

TRAER — May 29 — A cemetery walk is set for Monday. Program will begin with an open house of the updated military display at the Traer Historical Museum. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. At 8 a.m., participants will then trek to West Union, Buckingham and St. Paul Catholic cemeteries with a social hour to follow at the Traer Historical Museum hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary, Kubik-Finch Unit No. 142.

MARSHALLTOWN — May 29 — 10:30 a.m. Iowa Veterans Home in the Malloy LRC; Marshalltown City Band — 10:30 a.m. to noon — Freedom Rock, American Legion, 1301 S. Sixth St.
