Mendiola

Carlos Flores Mendiola, 45, of Marshalltown, was arrested Sunday and charged with crimes allegedly committed against an 11-year-old girl.

The Marshalltown Police Department began the investigation on Saturday after receiving notification that Flores Mendiola was engaged in the sexual contact. After numerous hours and interviews with several people, he was arrested and charged with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and indecent contact with a child.

The first charge is a class “C” felony and is punished with a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The second charge is an aggravated misdemeanor and is punished by a maximum of two years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing and Flores Mendiola is being held in the Marshall County Jail.
