GILMAN -- In addition to a multi-vehicle wreck on Highway 330 near Melbourne, Marshall County deputies responded to a second fatal accident on Monday evening outside of Gilman.
At approximately 6:21 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 2700-Mile of Zeller Avenue near Gilman for a report of a male subject that was struck by a tractor. When deputies and first responders arrived at the farm site, the unresponsive tractor operator was located and transported to the UnityPoint Hospital in Marshalltown.
The tractor operator, identified as 51-year-old Christopher Husak of Gilman, was later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained from the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Gilman Fire and EMS, Le Grand Fire and EMS, UnityPoint Health -- Marshalltown Ambulance, and the Marshall County Medical Examiner's Office.
