Man convicted of Marshall County crimes escapes from work release

DES MOINES -- Fermani Jose Maldonado, who was convicted of willful injury and conspiracy to commit forcible felony in Marshall County after assaulting a jail staffer -- along with first degree robbery, first degree burglary and assault with intent to inflict serious injury in Polk County back in 2014, failed to report back to the Fort Des Moines Reentry Center as required last Friday.

Maldonado is a 26-year-old black male, 5'9", 219 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on March 28, 2023. Persons with information on his whereabouts should contact local police.
