A veteran of the sales industry with 14 years of experience in newspaper advertising has joined the T-R marketing staff as of this week.

Leslie Ruby, a native of Cape Girardeau, Mo. who has called Iowa home for over 30 years now, is excited to introduce herself to local business owners and serve the T-R as well as the three Tama-Grundy weekly publications: the North Tama Telegraph, Sun Courier and Tama-Toledo News Chronicle.

"I'm excited to be in the Marshalltown area. I'm interested in getting back to local -- shopping local and promoting local businesses," she said. "I want to highlight businesses and profile (them) to the best of my abilities. I believe in investing in your local business. In fact, your business is my business, so please let me help you deliver your message."

Ruby has previously worked with T-R General Manager and Advertising Lead Rhonda James and complimented her as "motivational," adding that she's excited to be on a "happy and supportive" team.

"Our customers will enjoy working with Leslie. She is outgoing, knowledgeable and above all she wants to help each and every business succeed," T-R Publisher Terry Christensen said.

In her few days on the job so far, Ruby has had a chance to spend time both in Marshalltown and the Tama-Grundy territories, and she looks forward to building stronger relationships going forward while working to meet the marketing needs of area businesses.

When she isn't working, Ruby enjoys spending time with her husband Keith, their four adult children and their eight grandchildren -- Tanner, Sadie, Dayton Spencer, Cameron, Parker, Lorenzo and Apollo. She also likes to kayak, be outdoors and get involved in community events and organizations.

"I'm looking forward to doing community events and also doing things in conjunction with the Times-Republican so that you know that we are here, and we are here to support your business," she said. "I'm used to hard work and putting in the work."
