DAV donates $70,000 to IVH for new van
CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Representatives of Disabled American Veterans presented a check for $70,000 to Iowa Veterans Home Licensed Nursing Home Administrator Penny Cutler-Bermudez earlier. The money will be used to purchase a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant van.
DAV, Disabled American Veterans, donated $70,000 to the Iowa Veterans Home for a new ADA van which allows for three wheelchairs to be transported simultaneously. This donation is from the Department DAV, $35,000 from the Department DAV Thrift Store in Davenport and $35,000 directly from DAV Department of Iowa.
Representing the Department DAV is Dan Gannon, 1st District Finance Committee and David Thornburg, Department Judge Advocate. Penny Cutler Bermudez, IVH Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, accepted the check on behalf of IVH as Commandant Jacobus was not able to attend this event.
“The Disabled American Veterans have been a strong supporter of the Iowa Veterans Home for decades — in terms of volunteerism and resources. The purchase of this van will enhance our operation significantly, and help us deliver the absolute best in terms of quality services to our residents, and we are so grateful for the DAV’s generosity,” Jacobus said.
