Teen arrested for string of burglaries

A 16-year-old male was taken into custody Thursday in connection with investigations of six new burglaries and thefts.

He was charged with third-degree burglary of a vehicle, third-degree theft of stolen property and being a minor armed with a dangerous weapon. The juvenile is in custody. The charges are accusations and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The Marshalltown Police Department investigated the crimes which occurred at the 1400 block of West Main Street, 1100 block of West Nevada Street, 1600 block of Summit Street, two incidents at the 300 block of North 16th Street and the 100 block of North 16th Street.

Additional investigation connected these cases to a burglary on Tuesday at the 10 block of North 16th Street and another on July 14 at the 400 block of Melody Lane. Stolen property from those incidents were recovered by police on Thursday.

The investigation is on-going and additional arrests are anticipated.
