Some of the "zombies" at the Park Apocalypse prepare to get flags from runners in the Grimes Farm event on Saturday. The zombies included Parker Gooding, 16; Isaac Benscooter, 16; Isaac Goldman, 15; Preston Johnson, 14; and Kager Kremer, 16. All of the teens are cross country runners at Marshalltown High School, and Johnson qualified for the state tournament this year. More than 70 zombies volunteered for the event. Their goal was to capture flags from the 5K runners. Runners who crossed the finish line with flags were considered "survivors."
