Marshalltown man arrested after allegedly attempting to elude pursuit

On Tuesday at 11:46 a.m., the Marshalltown Police Department received a report of a disturbance outside of the Hampton Inn at 20 Iowa Ave. East.

The suspect was reported to be Jakub Aaron Wright, 42, of Marshalltown, who had an active warrant for his arrest. Wright allegedly left the area in a vehicle just as officers were arriving on scene. According to a press release, officers located Wright driving the vehicle nearby, and when they attempted to stop him, he fled, kicking off a pursuit that ended in rural Marshall County.

Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office then joined the pursuit, which concluded in a farm field, where the suspect then fled on foot. Officers and deputies gave chase and apprehended him a short time later.

Wright was arrested on a warrant for third degree burglary, a Class D felony, eluding — second or subsequent offense, a Class C felony, reckless driving, a simple misdemeanor, driving with a suspended license, a simple misdemeanor, speeding, a simple misdemeanor, two counts of failure to obey a stop sign, both simple misdemeanors and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail and is currently being held on a $12,300 bond. Hearing and trial information were not yet available at presstime.

The Marshalltown Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol during the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
