T-R PHOTOS BY ROBERT MAHARRY
In celebration of the Marshalltown Area United Way reaching its $825,000 fundraising goal for the 2023-2024 campaign, one of its co-chairs, KFJB Host Kyle Martin, took to the streets and made good on a promise to run down Main Street in a Speedo from the 2nd Street block to Center Street Wednesday morning. Despite the coldest temperatures of the season thus far, Martin, who is pictured at the beginning of his run near the T-R office at left, in the middle close to Smokin' G's with KFJB/KXIA Owner/General Manager Todd Steinkamp and News Director Zach Tomesch filming him, and at right striking a pose at the southwest corner of Center and Main after completing the Herculean task, was a good sport throughout the run, shouting "It's a beautiful day for a run! Come on, let's go" and "Good morning Marshalltown! I love you" as he trekked down one of Marshalltown's most traveled roads with a Marshalltown Police Department escort. A sizable crowd gathered along the route to witness this historic event, and video and photo evidence will ensure that it lives on for days, months and years to come.
