Marshalltown teen arrested for firearms, drugs

Skyler Wright, 18, of Marshalltown, was arrested Thursday for a stolen firearm and drug possession.
The arrest was the result of a traffic stop by an officer with the Marshalltown Police Department on Thursday morning. The vehicle was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 1500 block of South Second Avenue. During the traffic stop the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a stolen firearm and controlled substances.
Wright was taken to the Marshall County Jail and charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, possession of stolen property and careless property. Possession with intent to deliver marijuana is a class D felony, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in a prison and a $7,500 fine.
