Absentee voting for special election
The Marshall County Auditor/Recorder’s Office is announcing that Absentee Vote by mail and in–person begins Feb. 14.
Voters may request an Absentee Ballot by filling out the “Official Iowa Absentee Ballot Request Form.” They are available at the Marshall County Auditor/Recorder’s Office or the Marshall County website at: elections.marshallcountyia.gov/.
To request an absentee ballot by mail, people need to complete the absentee ballot request form and return to the office by Feb. 19.
The In–Person absentee voting will start from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Marshall County Courthouse, Auditor’s Office, third Floor, through March 4. ID is required. Feb. 23 the Courthouse Offices will be closed for training.
Mail the ballot so that is received before 8 p.m. on Election Day, March 5 or hand–deliver the ballot to the Marshall County Auditor’s Office during business hours. A ballot may be hand–delivered to the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S. First Ave., 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day – March 5.
Voters who want names to appear on the election registers on election day should preregister to vote by 5 p.m. on Feb. 19. Visit the Secretary of State Website to register to vote at: sos.iowa.gov/elections/voterinformation/voterregistration.html
After the pre–registration deadline, any person who is not already registered in the county may register by proving identity and residency.
Polling locations have been combined and/or changed for this special election.
• Albion Fire Station — Marshalltown CSD residents within Marietta, Bangor, Liscomb and Taylor Townships.
• Legrand Community Building — East Marshall CSD and Marshalltown CSD residents within Green Castle, LeGrand and Marion Townships
• Laurel City Hall — Laurel City residents, Marshalltown CSD residents within Logan, Washington, Jefferson and Timber Creek Townships in Marshall County and East Marshall CSD residents within Logan, Jefferson and Timber Creek Townships in Marshall County and all East Marshall residents of Poweshiek and Jasper Counties.
• Marshalltown Public Library — Marshalltown City residents within Ward 1 and Ward 2.
• Redeemer Lutheran Church — Marshalltown City residents within Ward 3 and Ward 4.
