Police Chief Mike Tupper, Lt. Sadie Weekley and Det. Jonna Tuttle said they were thrilled with the turnout. A sign outside the shop promoted the event. Lynne Carroll of Marshalltown took the opportunity to talk to Weekley. The lieutenant said her colleagues are grateful to have a state-of-the art joint police/fire department facility in the 900 block of South Second Street to work in. That facility opened in August of 2019 after Marshalltown voters overwhelmingly approved a bond issue to fund a land purchase and construction. Officer David Danielson, who oversees the department’s bike patrol, said he is looking forward to resuming the patrol once the department is at full strength. Danielson said it is an effective law enforcement tool and allows officers to interact with residents.
