UScellular completes $1.25 million addition of 34 small cell sites in Marshalltown
UScellular has installed 34 small cell sites throughout Marshalltown. At the end of 2023, the wireless company turned on the sites to provide a stronger network and enhanced customer experience.
The investment of approximately $1.25 million from UScellular adds small wireless cell sites on existing light poles near Iowa Highway 14 from Riverside Park on the north side to U.S. Highway 30 on the south edge of Marshalltown. This includes placement in the community from Tankersley Park on the west side to Kiwanis Park on the southeast side. These additions further densify the network spectrum closer to where the consumer traffic is located to improve data speed and voice calls.
“We’re excited to complete these network upgrades and help customers in the Marshalltown area stay connected,” said Joshua Olbricht, UScellular’s director of sales and operations for east Iowa. “We’ve placed the small cells strategically in areas across the community to densify our existing network and improve our overall customer experience. Investing in our wireless network helps ensure that people have connectivity at home, at work and virtually anywhere else.”
UScellular invested more than $110.7 million in its Iowa network in 2023. This includes network upgrades and 5G modernizations that enhanced connectivity across the state and advanced the company’s ongoing 5G network evolution and expansion strategy.
