A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing an acquaintance on a party bus that was traveling through Marshall County along Highway 30 Friday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the Marshall County Communications Center received a report of a subject that was stabbed near the 2400 mile of Highway 30 outside of Marshalltown at 3:43 p.m. It was discovered the incident had occurred on a "party bus" that was occupied by several adults traveling to Cedar Rapids after attending a business event in Des Moines.
As dispatchers attempted to confirm the location of the vehicle, the reporting party informed them that the vehicle was in the UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Hospital Emergency Room parking lot.
The victim, 41-year-old James Morgan of Cedar Rapids, was taken into the emergency room for medical care. The press release indicated that Morgan's injury was not believed to be life threatening.
About 10 minutes after the initial call, Marshall County Sheriff's Office deputies and Marshalltown Police Department officers located the alleged offender, Jesse Davis, 32, of Cedar Rapids at the hospital. Davis was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail without incident.
An investigation determined that the incident was considered to be isolated. Davis and the victim were acquaintances who are suspected of having a previous disagreement. The incident remains under further investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
Davis was charged with assault with willful injury, a Class C felony, and going armed with intent, a Class D felony.
