The egg drop extravaganza

The Central Iowa Fairgrounds were the place to be on Saturday afternoon as thousands of people came by to enjoy free entertainment that included inflatables, a traditional Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m., photo opportunities with the Easter bunny and a massive egg drop at 3:30, with over 7,700 eggs dropped in a zoned off area by pilots from Iron Horse Aviation. Although there were a few false starts with kids rushing out before all of the eggs had been dropped, both parents and the staff of the Marshalltown Fire Department banded together to ensure the rules were followed, and the eggs were all accounted for in less than a minute. Organizer Jake Rowley of the United Cajun Navy, pictured with Lake Sulc of Exterior + Home Remodeling at top right, said it just meant they’d have to buy more next year. After the kids entertainment wrapped up, Luisa Ortega hosted a Sabado de Gloria concert at the fairgrounds.
