Lasley pleads not guilty in Marshall County double murder case

As part of a written arraignment filed on May 2, the man accused of shooting and killing two people in Marshall County has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, and a trial scheduling conference is now set for May 17.

Ilias Julian Lasley, 29, of Ankeny, was arrested in Des Moines on April 20 and charged with the murders of 28-year-old Mario Murillo and 33-year-old Frances Tillie Gasca, both of Marshalltown, after allegedly shooting the victims at a residence north of Marshalltown in the early hours of April 19. He has since been charged with two counts of possession/dominion of an offensive weapon by a felon, both Class D felonies.

Lasley, who is represented by Public Defender Aaron Siebrecht, formally pleaded not guilty and waived his right to a speedy trial during the arraignment. The scheduling conference is set to be held via video conference on May 17 at 11 a.m. Lasley is being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $1 million bond.
