Arresting Hunger Food Drive a major success Saturday
The 2024 Arresting Hunger Food Drive, hosted by the Marshalltown Police Department and the Rotary Club of Marshalltown on Saturday, offered the chance for shoppers to drop off money or food items at Hy-Vee and Fareway to benefit the Emergency Food Box and the Salvation Army locally. The event raised $2,200 in cash, which in turn was converted into Fareway and Hy-Vee gift cards, and the squad car was filled as nearly 920 pounds of food — more than two pickup loads — were donated. Pictured, from left to right, are Mary K Anderson and Ric Anderson from Rotary, Jennifer Ayers with the Salvation Army, Officer Jacob Molitor of the MPD and Julie Hitchins with Rotary outside of Hy-Vee. In all, 20 Rotarians volunteered during the food drive.
