Train derails near Quarry Road/230th Street intersection

A train derailment was reported near the intersection of Quarry Road and 230th Street on Sunday. The Marshall County Sheriff's Office was notified by Union Pacific Railroad representatives at 5:25 p.m. According to Sheriff Joel Phillips, approximately 30 cars carrying coal derailed, but there were no injuries or hazmat concerns. He added that Quarry Road will be closed from Shady Oaks Road to Three Bridges Road until cleanup is completed.
