Doo Dah’s Diner closing indefinitely
Doo Dah’s Diner, located at 128 E. Main St., has closed indefinitely due to a medical issue affecting the co-managers, Jack Brimmer and Samara Torres. Owner Dave Grieve, who had taken over for predecessors Craig and Christine Robinson within the last year, issued the following statement on Monday.
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to report that Doo Dah’s Diner is closed indefinitely. Both co-managers of Doo Dah’s were affected by a medical event. Unfortunately, with no medical return to work time frame provided by the medical authorities, continual rising costs of supplies, utilities and investment in a worn out diner were too much for the market to bear.
To all our loyal regular customers, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Your support through the ownership change was extraordinary! Doo Dah’s tried to provide a decent value food service for many of our fixed income customers. In the spirit of trying to serve the working class and functional poor, Doo Dah’s is donating all remaining food supplies to the Salvation Army to help feed the homeless in Marshalltown.
If you would like to support Jack and Samara with their medical issues, a Gofundme page has been set up. You can find links on Facebook or by visiting https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-jack-brimmer-recover?lang=en_US.
Thank you, Marshalltown, for doing your best to support Doo Dah’s. Bad things happen to good people. Some dreams don’t come true.
