Arts+Culture Alliance moving to Main Street office

A new chapter will soon begin for the Arts + Culture Alliance (ACA).

On Thursday, the nonprofit announced a move from the Marshalltown Arts & Civic Center (MACC) to 126 W. Main St.

“This move marks an exciting milestone in the ACA’s continued growth and commitment to fostering a vibrant arts and culture scene in the region,” Executive Director Amber Danielson wrote in a press release.

Work for the move is already underway and the plan is for the ACA to be in the new space before Jan. 1. She said a grand opening will be hosted, and details will be announced soon.

According to Danielson, the ACA has grown and evolved to the point a larger space is necessary, and has been a priority.

After spending years in the MACC, the move will give the Alliance an opportunity to expand services and offer a wider range for Marshalltown’s creative community, such as exhibitions, workshops and performances. With the space, Danielson is expecting to reach more people, offer new programs, and collaborate with local businesses and artists to build a vibrant arts community.

The Main Street location will also give the ACA increased visibility and accessibility and make it easier to place more focus on community engagement.

“Relocating the ACA to downtown Marshalltown is a transformative step that will bring art to the forefront of our community,” said Deb Millizer, executive director of the Marshalltown Central Business District (MCBD).

As the downtown has been a focus for Millizer during her career with the MCBD, she said bringing the ACA to Main Street will enhance the vibrancy and display how creativity supports inspiration, connection and growth in the community.

“Revitalization is a team effort, and the MCBD is excited to see the powerful contributions Amber and her team will bring to shaping the future of our downtown,” she said.

Danielson looks forward to contributing to that ongoing revitalization.

“The move to a Main Street storefront allows us to be more integrated into the heart of Marshalltown, and we are excited to become a part of the thriving downtown scene,” she said.

According to Marshalltown artist Kim Hanken, the Alliance relocation is an exciting development.

“There are so many possibilities with this move,” she said. “The ACA will be able to offer the artist community many more opportunities to engage in what makes an artist tick. This is where growth happens. When you feed the soul of an artist, you fuel potential and possibilities; in return, that fire can ignite our community.”
