Longtime local REALTORS ® launch No Limits Real Estate in Marshalltown

REALTORS® Angie Gonzales, Magali Marquez, Kajun Morris and Paula Price are four longtime colleagues at First Rate Real Estate who decided to branch out together and launch their own joint venture, No Limits Real Estate, at 207 E. Church St. Ste. 104 on Dec. 30 of last year.

Gonzales, who moved to Marshalltown from Kansas due to her husband’s job at Iowa Premium Beef in Tama, is the relative newcomer of the quartet, but Marquez, Morris and Price have all been coworkers for over a decade. Now, they’re co-owners.

Price, who grew up in Conrad and now resides at Lake Ponderosa near Montezuma, has been involved in the local real estate industry for 30 years, and Morris, a Le Grand native, got a taste of the business as early as high school through her father Jay Hansen and stepmother Jamie Bland, the former owner of First Rate. Marquez relocated to Iowa from California in 2003 and has sold real estate for over 15 years.

“I’ve worked with Magali and Kajun for a long time, and we all have worked together well. We get along great,” Price said. “I think that we wanted to do our own thing, and the four of us (including Gonzales) work well together. We just wanted to be on our own and be able to progress in our business, to accelerate.”

All four own an equal stake in the new business, with Marquez serving as the managing broker and Morris taking the role of broker associate.

“We’re all partners. We’re all owners,” Marquez said. “And I feel like everybody brings something to the table, every single one of us.”

She described Gonzales as an expert in numbers, books and marketing and credited Price for her experience and coming up with the No Limits name.

“I just thought it was different from anything else, and it kind of says we go above and beyond. That’s our tagline. We’ll do whatever it takes to get the job done… We go above and beyond to make it an easy transaction>”

The company helps buyers and sellers find all types of real estate from homes to commercial properties and farmland. Gonzales and Marquez are also bilingual, which they see as a huge asset in a place like Marshalltown.

“I feel like it’s so important because we’re talking about big things like appraisals (and) inspections, and I feel like you shouldn’t have your 10-year-old translate that for you. You should have somebody explain that to you in your language that you understand,” Marquez said. “I think buying a house is just such a big process that, you know, explaining all that to them in their language and making sure that you answer all their questions, I feel like that’s very important.”

Gonzales added that with non-English speaking clients, they work closely together “from the beginning” and accompany them to appointments with their mortgage lender, translating if need be. In some cases, that means meeting them on nights and weekends because of their unconventional work schedules.

“It’s definitely a very full service (experience) for them,” Gonzales said.

The No Limits team has been working hard to promote their new brand through advertising and social media activity, and they credited their loyal customers — even a few walk-ins — as well as their families, friends and owners of other local businesses for supporting them as they launch their new endeavor.

“I think we enjoy coming to work. Sometimes we can’t even go home — we’re like ‘Go home girls! It’s 8 p.m. I think we’re just maybe excited too because we’re getting things done,” Marquez said. “I think it’s been a long road because at first, Angie was painting (the office space) with her family on Christmas Eve. We had family help us with the floor.”

The No Limits office is located inside the same building as the Senior Citizens Center, Barr Asset Management and Smiles in Motion Dentistry on East Church Street, and Marquez credited the building owner, Dentist Mike Stufflebeam, for allowing them to utilize the previously vacant space.

“He’s comes and visits us. He’s just really easygoing. He’s made it really easy for us,” she said.

No Limits can be reached at (641) 758-3373, and the Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61571321078607. The owners are currently in the process of developing a website.
