St. Francis hosts ‘Popsicles with Public Servants’
On a recent Wednesday afternoon, St. Francis Catholic School hosted several local public servants from police officers to firefighters to EMTS and paramedics and provided them with popsicles as a token of appreciation. Principal Julie Graber shared the following message.
“On behalf of our entire Catholic school family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you–our dedicated public servants. Each day, you give of yourselves in ways that uphold the dignity, safety, and well-being of our students, our school, and the wider community. Your work is not simply a job — it is a calling, a profound act of service that echoes the Gospel message of love and sacrifice.
In the Catholic tradition, we believe that true greatness is found in serving others. Jesus taught us that “whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant” (Matthew 20:26). You embody this teaching daily — through your courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment, shown in your actions across law enforcement, healthcare, emergency response, government, and other vital services.
This year especially, we have witnessed firsthand the bravery, swiftness, and care you have provided to our students and staff. In moments of uncertainty, you were there–reassuring, protecting, and responding with professionalism and heart. For this, we are so very grateful.
We know what it looks like when the world feels heavy–when brokenness seems overwhelming. But as the song says, “while I’m there, I still have a prayer as long as my heart beats.” Your service is a living prayer. It reminds us that goodness still abounds, and that God is very much at work in the world–often through people like you.
Your presence allows our students to learn in safety, our families to feel supported, and our school to remain a place of growth, peace, and faith. You show us that even in a world that can seem clouded and chaotic, “there’s still good in the crazy world we’re living in.” And to that, we say: Amen.
Please know that your efforts are seen, valued, and remembered. May God bless you and protect you always, and may your continued service bring light, hope, and healing to all you encounter. Thank you!”
