Brown agrees to plea guilty to grooming felony

Bryan Brown, 35, of Marshalltown, agreed to plead guilty to one count of grooming on Friday.
The grooming charge is the result of a December YouTube video on the JiDion Premium channel, a video which has gone viral with almost 3 million views.
The Marshalltown Police Department arrest report stated Brown, from Nov. 15 to Dec. 10, communicated on Facebook Messenger with someone he believed was an 11-year-old girl, but was actually a JiDion Premium decoy who used the name “Mandy.” Brown sent nude photos and asked for nude photos from “Mandy.” He also made plans to meet with her, her 12-year-old friend and her 9-year-old sister on Dec. 10 at his residence for the purposes of sex.
The search warrant requested by Det. Kraig Lageschulte on Dec. 12 sought to obtain Brown’s smartphone. It stated Brown encouraged “Mandy” to engage in sexual acts by herself. He originally made plans to meet with “Mandy” at her home in Newton. However, since Brown does not drive, the decoy made the arrangements to obtain an Uber and meet in Marshalltown
Brown is already on the sex offender registry for a January 2015 offense involving a boy younger than 13 years of age.
The grooming felony became law in the state of Iowa in July 2024. Grooming is a class D felony which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of $10,245.
