Tama man charged with harassment, threats of terrorism after initial arrest

Perez Castro

TOLEDO — A Tama man who was arrested on drug charges in response to a noise complaint at a residence on June 9 is now facing additional charges over an alleged threat of terrorism and harassment related to his conduct both during the execution of a search warrant and while he was in custody at the Tama County Jail.

According to a criminal complaint, Maynor Perez Castro, 24, told officers who were searching his residence that he was not going to jail as he already had a court date set for another incident. When he was told he would be going to jail, he allegedly said “Because man, I swear of god which is he know which is she saying (sic) which is he watching right now that it takes nothing to blow the city up only one match, you know that?”

Once he was taken to the jail, Perez Castro allegedly became agitated and broke the phone in his cell before the staff decided to move him to a different cell for the sake of inmate safety. During this time he was handcuffed and while getting taken out of the cell, Perez Castro allegedly stated ‘I would kill all of you guys that work here’ to the four law enforcement officers who were assisting him out of the cell.

At presstime, Perez Castro was being held in the Tama County Jail on an $11,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for July 10 at 9 a.m.

Starting at $4.38/week.
