Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue: Scenes from Marshalltown’s Fourth of July celebration

Marshalltown once again observed Independence Day in style with the second iteration of the revamped Red, White and Blue Celebration, which began on Thursday evening with a car cruise-in and food trucks in the 13th Street District as well as the first Live After 5 of the summer at West End Park featuring Buz Owen and the B2wins, who played in Marshalltown as part of their “Goodbye Iowa” tour before they relocate to Florida. The fun resumed on Friday with a parade through the Iowa Veterans Home and the 13th Street District featuring a host of patriotic entries and, as always, led by the Marshalltown Combined Honor Guard. Vaughn Hauser and Ralph Alshouse, two of the three remaining WWII veterans living at IVH, served as grand marshals. Afterward, inflatables and activities were set up on the IVH grounds before the baseball and softball games at Valor Field, and later in the afternoon, the party moved to the 6th Street Softball Complex for more live music from a wide variety of acts, culminating in the fireworks show at dusk.

Starting at $4.38/week.
