Courts update: Terrones, Nelson-Loupee, McKibbin all plead not guilty, cases set to proceed to trial

The former Marshalltown High School dean of students who was most recently serving as a substitute teacher and club administrator before being charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee is tentatively scheduled to stand trial in Marshall County on July 24, according to court records.

Daniel Sebastian Terrones, 64, was arrested on May 29 and was released on bond the following day. Defense attorney Chad Frese has since filed a written plea of not guilty on his client’s behalf and demanded the right to a speedy trial.

According to the criminal complaint filed in conjunction with his arrest, Terrones “knowingly engaged in a pattern or practice or scheme of conduct through excessive touching resulting in a kiss of a student he was in a position of authority above. The defendant routinely contacted the victim via text messages and routinely hugged the victim. On the above date and time, the defendant kissed the victim on the cheek while he was giving her a hug as she exited the bus.”
