Not long after it arrived earlier this week, a construction crew and crane operators from PCI of Reinbeck — under the supervision of engineers with Snyder and Associates — placed the brand new Emerson Bridge on its foundation late Thursday morning and into the afternoon near the skatepark and the softball complex on South 6th Street as community members gathered around to witness the historic event. The bridge is partly funded by a $2 million Destination Iowa grant for four projects in the Linn Creek District and will feature an overlook for cyclists and pedestrians along with a drinking fountain, a shelter and a bicycle maintenance station.
