Final St. Mary’s graduating class celebrates 60-year reunion
Seventeen members of the final graduating class from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Marshalltown gathered for their 60-year reunion at the home of Carol Hauser on Friday evening with a full weekend of events planned including brunch at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Saturday morning, golf and, of course, mass on Saturday evening. They even got their own welcome sign at Taylor’s Maid-Rite. Ruth Yordy, seated at center, held a sign for the seven members of the class of 1965 who have since passed away. Some Fighting Irish alums still reside in Iowa, while others, like Mike Solomon, moved all the way to Hawaii as he served in the U.S. Air Force and the Joint Command. Mike Casey told the T-R that he is still thankful to have grown up with the group of classmates he did, as they were all treated like family.
