A Marshalltown woman was arrested on Friday morning and charged with animal neglect with serious injury or death after allegedly leaving a dog in a kennel without adequate food or water for six days before the dog was found deceased.

Alyse Morelia Sanchez, 21, was taken into custody by the Marshalltown Police Department and is currently being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $5,000 bond. The charge against her is an aggravated misdemeanor, and a preliminary hearing is set for July 31 at 9:30 a.m.
