On Thursday morning, the Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) confirmed that the rollover crash on Highway 30 resulted in a fatality and released more information about the circumstances. According to a subsequent press release, a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 when it approached a slow-moving truck pulling a gravity wagon. The pick-up truck lost control as it braked and tried to avoid the slow-moving truck and wagon, causing it to cross the median where it rolled and came to rest in the westbound lanes. The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the pick-up truck and no other injuries reported as a result of the accident. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending further investigation.
