Bystanders gathered to watch a piece of local history come down on Tuesday morning into the afternoon as the Queen of Hearts Mansion

at 607 W. Main St. was demolished by a crew from Con-Struct Inc.

According to City of Marshalltown Housing and Community Development Director Deb Millizer, Todd Hollingworth, the owner of the property who purchased it from Patrick and Sharon McGill in 2019, paid for the demolition himself.
