Leslyee’s Library book drop on Oct. 17
Judge Sharon Greer and members of the Marshall County legal community are seeking to celebrate Clerk of Court Carolyn Haney’s dedicated work over the past years by organizing a book drive in support of Leslyee’s Library. Additionally, the 6th annual Cady of Service is coming up on October 17, 2025. To that end, we’ve scheduled a “Big Book Drop” at the Marshall County Courthouse rotunda for Oct. 17, 2025, at 3 p.m.
The Times-Republican has previously covered the story of Leslyee’s Library. It began as a personal project organized by Les George, an employee at the Marshall County Courthouse, who would come to work with a shoebox full of kids’ books and provide the books to children when they came to her office. The project was a tremendous help for parents and their children to handle the enormous stress of going to the Courthouse. The project has expanded with personal support from Clerk of Court Carol Haney, Judge Sharon Greer, and the Marshall County Legal Community. The library is currently located on the fourth floor of the Courthouse in honor of Leslyee George and her heartfelt work, who unfortunately passed away in April 2024. Leslyee’s son, Ryne George, has established Leslyee’s Library to continue his mother’s project. Leslyee’s Library has successfully expanded to the Linn County Courthouse with plans to continue expansion in the future.
Organizers are seeking donations of books for children of all ages for Leslyee’s Library. In addition to physical books, monetary support can be provided via checks can be made out to “Leslyee’s Library” or online at the following link: https://givebutter.com/leslyees-library. Organizers are also reaching out to local vendors to put together some incentives and will update once finalized. More information on Leslyee’s Library can also be found on the organization’s Facebook Page.
