New veterinary clinic, same familiar location
T-R PHOTO BY LANA BRADSTREAM — Doctor’s Ashley Ladehoff and Rachael Schaaf are right at home in their new veterinary clinic, since they also worked there when it was VCA. The clinic will open for business on Monday.
Pet owners will have another veterinarian option via the Marshalltown Animal Clinic, and it’s even in a familiar spot – the former VCA Marshalltown Animal Hospital on High Street.
Doctors Ashley Ladehoff, Rachael Schaaf and Lindsey Heinrichs all worked at the location for several years. First when it was Animal Clinic – The Vet and then when it was VCA before ithe latter closed at the end of February.
The clinic will officially open on Monday, and there is an open house scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Ladehoff said she has worked in Marshalltown, at that location since she graduated from vet school in 2008.
“I feel fully invested in this community and love all my clients and patients,” she said. “When VCA announced that they were closing our location, I knew we had to figure out a way to try and stay local. Dr. Schaaf joined our team while we were still a VCA hospital and also loved her clients and patients. We felt that we had such a great team of veterinarians and support staff, so we decided to join forces and open up a private practice to continue serving our community.”
According to Ladehoff, pet owners can expect exceptional patient care from familiar faces – doctors and staff which they had seen in that same location for years. One thing Marshalltown Animal Hospital will offer which other vets do not is availability on Saturdays.
“We are committed to high quality medicine for all pets,” she said.
As with other medical professions, there are specialty areas for veterinarians. Dr. Lindsey Bloomquist will treat pocket and exotic pets, such as reptiles, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, turtles and hamsters.
“She is also fully certified in veterinary acupuncture,” Ladehoff said. “We offer all manners of soft tissue surgery, as well as dental cleanings with extractions. We have digital x-ray and digital dental x-ray. We also offer ultrasound services for more in depth imaging.”
With the opening day for the new vet service just around the corner, Ladehoff said they hope for Marshalltown Animal Clinic to have a strong community presence.
“We support our local animal shelter, the Animal Rescue League, and all the hard work they are doing in this community,” she said. “We are fully invested in supporting the community of Marshalltown, as well as the surrounding rural communities, by providing high quality medicine at affordable prices.”
