Marshalltown man charged with attempting to sexually abuse minor
Perales
A Marshalltown man was arrested on Wednesday over allegations that he attempted to sexually abuse a minor victim.
According to court records, Javier Guadalupe Perales, 33, was intoxicated at the time the incident allegedly occurred early Wednesday morning.
“(The defendant) rubbed the outside of the victim’s leg/hip/waist and belly area as he tried to lift the blanket off the victim. The defendant was undressing himself when the victim ran upstairs to (the victim’s) room and shut the door. The defendant followed the victim and would plead with the victim to let him in (the victim’s) room. The defendant eventually left the victim alone,” the arrest report reads.
Perales was charged with lascivious acts with a child — inflict pain or discomfort, a Class D felony, and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was taken into custody by officers with the Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) and is being held at the Marshall County Jail on a $7,000 bond as of Thursday.
The defendant was previously convicted of an aggravated misdemeanor count of domestic abuse in 2014. A preliminary court hearing is set for Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m.
