A Marshalltown woman was struck and killed near the intersection of South 3rd Avenue and Main Street on Saturday night, and the driver who hit her is at large and has not been identified.

According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, Melanie Katherine Nelson, 30, was crossing South 3rd Avenue just south of the intersection with East Main Street at 10:05 p.m. when she was struck by an unknown Dodge Ram pickup. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Nelson was transported to UnityPoint hospital and pronounced dead.
