Warrant issued for House of Compassion vandalism

An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman in connection to the Oct. 16 House of Compassion vandalism.

Marshalltown Police Chief Chris Jones said the warrant for Gina Kiris Anthony’s arrest was issued yesterday morning. A bond was also issued for $1,000.

The basis for the arrest warrant is video surveillance of Anthony, 33. Jones said no one else was involved.

“She also has a previous history with the House of Compassion,” he said. “We are confident it was her that broke the window.”

While no other damage was done to the nonprofit facility, the amount of damage was roughly $400, causing Anthony to face a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief. That particular charge is something she has faced before.

She was found guilty of fourth-degree criminal mischief in 2017 and another charge was dismissed in 2021. Anthony had two charges of fifth-degree criminal mischief dismissed – one in 2021 and another in 2023.

She was also found guilty 13 times of driving while barred from August 2017 to July 8 of this year.
