Christmas fun at Clutier’s ZCBJ Hall

CLUTIER — For the second year running, Clutier ZCBJ Lodge’s annual ‘Deck the Hall’ event had to be postponed by a week due to winter weather with this year’s original Saturday, Dec. 13, date pushed to Dec. 20. “I think we would have had our biggest crowd had it happened a week sooner (as) so many people start their Christmas family get-togethers early to be able to participate in multiple family events,” Lodge president Kathleen Brundage told the newspaper. “[But] all who attended had a good time, were happy with their door prizes and pretty much emptied the silent auction tables.” According to Michelle Brundage — who along with her husband Tom Krueger and mother Kathleen dressed 36 Christmas trees and the Hall from wall to wall in stunning holiday decorations — said between 50 and 75 people dropped by on Saturday between 1-3 p.m., including many local children eager to tell Santa Claus (aka Bryan Valline, stepson of the late Delane “Dempsey” Cizek who treasured playing Santa for years prior to his passing in 2024) what was on their wish lists. More than $900 in gifts were given away by the Lodge during the event. “The kids kept busy making crafts and finding ornaments,” Kathleen added, “while the adults had time to visit. All enjoyed free pizza, nachos, hot dogs, cookies and drinks.” Veselé Vánoce!
