Missing Garwin man found dead in Arkansas

NEWTON COUNTY, ARK. — The body of Nicholas Collins, the 22-year-old Garwin man who had not been seen or heard from since he left his home on Dec. 19, was found in Newton County, Ark. on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Tama County Sheriff’s Office.

Collins’s car had been located last Thursday in the Ozark National Forest in nearby Johnson County, Ark.

“At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be shared as it becomes available. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas has taken over the investigation,” Tama County Sheriff Casey Schmidt wrote. “This is a very difficult time for Nicholas’s family, and we ask everyone to respect their privacy as they grieve. We thank all the agencies and volunteers for their part in the search, including local teams in Arkansas, federal law enforcement, and our staff in Tama County.”
