Missoula Children’s Theater brings ‘Cinderella’ to Marshalltown
A pumpkin coach and glass slippers will be center stage on Saturday at the Marshalltown Performing Arts Center.
The Missoula Children’s Theater has returned with a production of “Cinderella,” and 60 youth will showcase their acting abilities.
Taylor Everman with the Assistance League of Marshalltown, the organization that brings Missoula to town every other year, said the cast includes Nevaeh Rivera as Cinderella; Charis Hand, Stepmother; Addison Daters and Lillyn Eichorn, Stepsisters Lovely and Beauty; Giovanni Lemus, King; Beckham McLeod, Rags/Prince; Natacha Goodwin, Fairy Godmother; Anaya Giffin, Cleo the Cat, Delilah Hernandez, Fido the Dog; Kennedy Roseland, Ava Ferneau, Emma Poppens, Oliver Dobbs, Katalina Garcia, Joelyn Laugerman, Pearl Grosvenor, Faith Pacheo, Alayna Paz, Molly Havens, Elias Carter, Olivia Eilers, Irene Botella-Huerta will play Lords and Ladies; Quinn Gerstandt and Makenzie Camilla, Town Criers; Reagan Ritter, Kamaeya Tribby, Everett Dobbs, Scarlett Coleman, Annabelle Johnson, Maely Laugerman, Eliza Sult and Olivia Rodrigues as the Buskers; Brynn Stanton, Madeline Sellers, Camden Borcherding, Lincoln McLeod, Maryn Seberger, Lily Morales, Nailea Avalos, Jonah Rodriguez as the Mice; Santiago Chavarria-Fonseca, Scarlett Cordova, Alydia Minkel, Nora Applegate, Zoey Nyheim, Henry Poppens, Callen Roberts, Saylor Slagle, Nelly Avalos, Aiden Johnson, Sofia Ramirez, Sawyer Miller, Josiah Dobbs, Arianny Garcia, Hollynn Carter and Hannah Rodriguez as Pumpkins.
Four students – Jacob Poppens, Tanner McCormick, Cypress SyWassink and Camden Boydstun – are serving as assistant directors to MCT Tour Actor and Director Edmund Castle.
“They help facilitate rehearsals and backstage activity during the show,” she said.
Missoula has a large rotation of plays they can produce as they travel to different communities, bringing the stage experience to interested youth. According to Everman, they periodically re-write and re-introduce each play to the public.
“Missoula has different teams of directors that each learn one play to teach and perform over that year,” she said. “They arrive to any given community on a Sunday, do auditions on Monday, rehearsals Monday through Friday and a performance on Saturday. Then they pack everything up and travel to a different community to start all over the next day.”
“Cinderella” will be Missoula’s 13th production in Marshalltown, and Everman said the Assistance League plans to sponsor them again in 2028.
