Third arrest made in connection with MHS parking lot shooting

A Marshalltown teenager is facing four felony charges after being arrested Monday in connection with the December 2025 Marshalltown High School parking lot shooting.
Angel Dominic Vasquez, 18, was arrested by Marshalltown Police Department and charged with two class B felonies – attempted murder, first-degree robbery – and two class D felonies, carrying a weapon on school grounds and going armed with intent.
Class B felonies carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison, but can be increased, depending on the crime. Class D felonies carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,245 fine.
It is alleged on Dec. 18, Vasquez participated in an armed robbery on school grounds. He agreed to go to MHS with an armed co-conspirator and steal THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) vape cartridges from one of the victims. During the robbery, Vasquez assaulted one of the victims and the co-conspirator fired shots at them, but no injuries resulted. A back pack, valued at less than $300, was stolen.
He is also charged with use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime, an aggravated misdemeanor and two misdemeanors – fifth-degree theft and fifth-degree criminal mischief.
As Vasquez was being arrested for his role in the robbery and shooting, a criminal complaint states he kicked the rear passenger side door of an MPD patrol vehicle, causing a moderate-sized black mark and minor dent and $100 of damage.
Yesterday, Marshalltown Public Defender Aaron Siebrecht filed a motion to withdraw the State Public Defender Office from providing counsel for Vasquez as there was a conflict of interest.
Vasquez is being held at the Marshall County Jail with a $75,000 bond.
Vasquez is not the only person charged in relation to the December MHS parking lot shooting. A juvenile female was arrested by MPD after officers spoke with the victims and obtained video from the scene which corroborated the victims’ stories. The MPD also used Flock cameras to identify the juvenile’s vehicle. She has been charged with first-degree robbery.
