Appointment committee interviews eight supervisor candidates
Decision expected Monday
The appointment committee charged with selecting a new member to serve on the Marshall County Board of Supervisors after the passing of Kevin Goodman interviewed eight candidates on Wednesday, and a decision on the appointment is expected Monday.
The committee is comprised of Marshall County Auditor/Recorder Nan Benson, County Attorney Jordan Gaffney and County Treasurer Deann Tomlinson. According to Benson, the following eight candidates were interviewed: Bill Schendel, who narrowly lost the 2024 Republican primary to Goodman, Evan Folk, DeMorris Dean, Kent Thomas, Goodman’s son Christian Goodman, Adam Baedke, Kyle Hall and Tony Reed.
“Jordan, Deann, and I will be meeting Monday, Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m. to reach a decision. We are going to be reaching out to some references between now and then,” Benson said.
The new supervisor is expected to be appointed at the regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11 and would then likely seek a full term through the June party primary and the November general election, subsequently serving out the remainder of Goodman’s term until Dec. 31, 2028.
