Meet in Marshalltown and the Marshalltown Community College (MCC) Esports program has signed a multi-year jersey sponsorship — believed to be the first partnership of its kind between a collegiate esports team and a tourism organization.

The sponsorship places the “Meet in Marshalltown” logo, in MCC gold, on the left chest of team jerseys. At recruit signings, the back of the jersey will feature a special “MeetinMtown” gamertag.

“This partnership was a no-brainer for us,” said Dylan Does, Tourism Director for Meet in Marshalltown. “The MCC Esports program has made Marshalltown synonymous with competitive excellence, winning more than 20 national championships. Just as importantly, the program has given back by elevating youth gaming through statewide events and year-round competitions. We’re honored to partner with MCC Esports to continue celebrating and promoting Marshalltown through esports.”

“The esports culture in Marshalltown would not have been realized without our community’s support,” said Andrew Goforth, MCC Director of Esports. “Meet in Marshalltown has been integral in helping realize our vision of becoming ‘the esports school’ of Iowa. This reach extends beyond our college and has shaped pivotal moments in many young gamers’ lives. Nate and I are thrilled to take part in this signing and all it symbolizes.”

“Esports in Marshalltown has been a force since Amber Lawthers won a national title in 2022,” said Nathan Rodemeyer, MCC Esports Management Faculty and Coach. “From the success of the MCC program to the incredible season at MHS and the support of partners across the community, esports has brought Marshalltown together in new ways. This partnership represents that larger story.”

“We are thrilled about the new partnership with Meet in Marshalltown. This collaboration strengthens the connection between Marshalltown Community College, the athletics department, and specifically the Esports team, while creating exciting new opportunities for engagement, growth, and pride throughout the community.” MCC Athletic Director Whitney Sowers said.

The jersey sponsorship is the latest collaboration between Meet in Marshalltown and MCC. The MCC Esports Department received the inaugural Meet in Marshalltown Tourism Champion Award in June 2025 for its work hosting the Iowa High School Esports Association State Showdown, held three times annually in Marshalltown since September 2023.

Meet in Marshalltown is the tourism brand of the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce.
