Noodle dinner is proven fundraising ‘pasta-bility’

Noodle lovers might find an upcoming pasta fundraiser worth every “penne.”
The Marshalltown High School Band Pasta Dinner is set for Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m., and will raise money for next year’s band show, new mariachi uniforms and contest registration.
MHS Director of Bands Brett Umthun said there are 85 students in band this year.
“Our program thrives because of the amazing community support we receive on a yearly basis,” he said. “Families can keep their kitchen clean for an evening, have a delicious meal for a great price and let us serve you.”
The band has hosted the dinner during the last 20 years and hope to raise $3,000 this time. If it goes well, they will be back for the 21st dinner.
The MHS food service department will assist in cooking and preparing the meals, and many parent and student volunteers will serve in various capacities throughout the evening.
For people to enjoy the noodles, the cost is $7 per meal at the door or $25 for two and sponsorship recognition.
“The idea of a pasta dinner is a great way for the community to come together to share a meal, enjoy each other’s company and give back to the community,” he said.
They will even have gluten-free and to-go options available.
