The past year was an exciting one for the Green Castle Recreation Area south of Ferguson. The park now waits for an influx of users and campers as the warmer weather approaches. Phase one of the new park — 30 campground sites — and phase two — a new playground and electricity — was completed in August. Another 30 campground sites are being planned. In addition, 60 trees and shrubs were planted in October and Amateur Astronomers of Central Iowa are fundraising for a new observatory.
